The Green Zone and Ready to Learn

The Navigators started the year out learning about our feelings, others' feelings, how we make others feel, and some simple tools that help us to learn at school.

This is a picture of me in the Green Zone:
happy
calm
feeling okay
focused
full body listening
ready to learn

This is a picture of me in the yellow zone:
silly
wiggly
excited
coming in from recess
frustrated
worried
loss of some control
not quite ready to learn

This is a picture of me in the blue zone:
sad
sick
tired
bored
hangry (hungry and angry)
not ready to learn

This is a picture of me in the red zone:
really angry/mad
terrified
yelling/hitting
really happy (your team won!)
out of control
making poor choices
really not ready to learn

One of the Navigators made a group of flip-up cards to show the various zones and he taught us all how to do make these!

We're reading lots of great books, we're having many good conversations, we're taking lots of brain breaks since we're on the computer so much, and we're learning so much about living in community.

And we're discovering how taking a deep breath really does make a difference.
